Smile Makeover: Quick Answers

What is a full smile makeover?

It is a personalized plan to improve smile appearance while considering dental health and function. International Dental Center PV in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico plans care with Dr. Alberto Hernández according to your examination and goals.

What treatments can be included?

Options include zirconia crowns, zirconia or E.max veneers, Lumineers, whitening, bonding and restorative work. Replacing missing teeth, implants and gum treatment may be included when clinically indicated; not everyone needs the same procedures.

Am I a candidate?

An examination of your teeth, gums, bite and medical history determines suitability. Decay, gum disease or other active problems may need treatment before cosmetic work.

Veneers vs crowns: what is the difference?

Veneers cover mainly the front surface of a tooth. Crowns cover more of the tooth and may be appropriate when it needs greater structural restoration. The choice depends on remaining tooth structure, bite and goals.

How many teeth usually need treatment?

There is no fixed number. Your visible smile, tooth condition and preferences guide which teeth to treat. Healthy teeth do not automatically need crowns or veneers.

How much does a smile makeover cost in Puerto Vallarta?

Zirconia veneers, E.max veneers and zirconia crowns are $550 USD per tooth. Lumineers are $480 USD per tooth. Final cost depends on the number of teeth, materials and procedures included in the personalized treatment plan.

Can a smile makeover include dental implants?

Yes, when clinically appropriate for tooth replacement. Conventional titanium implant placement is $1,100 USD; the abutment plus zirconia crown is $800 USD, for $1,900 USD complete. Additional procedures are quoted separately. Mini dental implants are a different treatment, at $600 USD per mini implant.

How long does treatment take?

Veneers typically take approximately 5–7 days; crowns and bridges usually take 7–10 days. Complex treatment can take longer. Confirm your clinical and laboratory schedule before booking travel.

How many trips may be needed?

Some cosmetic plans fit one trip. Implants generally require two trips separated by healing, often around 4–6 months. Grafting, gum care or other staged procedures may require additional time or visits.

Do I need X-rays or a CBCT before traveling?

Send existing X-rays and photos for preliminary review. A CBCT may be requested for implants or other specific diagnostic needs; it is not required for every cosmetic case. Ask which records are appropriate before arranging new imaging.

Can treatment be planned before I arrive?

Yes. Patients from the United States and Canada can send photos, available X-rays, CBCT records and/or a local dentist’s treatment plan. Preliminary estimates may change after the in-person examination.

What materials are available?

Options include zirconia crowns and veneers, E.max veneers, Lumineers and composite bonding. Material selection depends on tooth structure, bite, shade and preparation requirements. Maintenance and periodic reviews are necessary.

Is lodging included?

Only qualifying plans may include airport pickup and lodging in an Airbnb or resort, with up to two companions. Benefits depend on the treatment total, plan, dates and availability. Confirm your inclusions before travel.

Knowing how to Modify your Oral Hygiene Habits to Best Care for your Restorations
Will Help you Maintain your New Smile for Years to Come

Highly abrasive toothpaste and tooth brushing habits can scratch the surface of restorations, dulling their polish and luster. As such, non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste is recommended. Brush two-to-three times each day for maximum effectiveness.

Flossing is a key factor in removing debris and plaque from the teeth, and actually increases the lifespan of restorations and helps prevent tooth decay. Flossing is important for everyone but is especially important for people with veneers since impeccable gum tissue health is important.

Ask your dentist which mouthwash is appropriate for your restorations and gum health. Follow any prescribed rinse instructions.

Food and Drinks to Limit or Avoid

  • Limit sugary snacks and drinks to help reduce decay risk. Coffee, tea and tobacco can contribute to staining. Follow the specific diet and healing instructions provided for your procedures.

Other Precautions

  • Avoid biting hard objects. If a nightguard is prescribed for grinding, wear it as directed. Restoration longevity varies with material, bite, hygiene and maintenance; repair or replacement may be needed. Attend regular dental reviews.
